Dark Souls 2 beta coming this fall, open to ‘hardcore’ PS3 gamers only

Namco Bandai has announced plans for a special Dark Souls 2 closed beta test for you PS3 gamers out there. Scheduled to begin on October 5, 2013, the closed beta will be open only to PlayStation 3 gamers in North America and Europe.

"The depth of the Dark Souls 2 Closed-Beta experience will truly test players’ skill, intestinal fortitude, and their sheer will to survive," Namco said in a statement today. "The Dark Souls 2 Closed-Beta will delve into one of the most treacherous areas of the Dark Souls 2 world; players will not only get an opportunity to explore an entirely new area of the game, but also experience overwhelming enemy encounters, diabolical challenges, and the unrelenting difficultly that only the developers at FromSoftware can deliver."

Unfortunately, that's all the details provided; those interested will have to tune in to the Dark Souls Facebook page beginning September 5 for continual news and updates regarding the registration process. Or you can just check back on GameZone as we'll be tracking the status daily.

Although the beta will only be open to those "hardcore" PS3 gamers, Dark Souls 2 will actually be released on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in March 2014.
