Dark Souls 2 players itching for some more punishment can now play through the first chapter of its three-part The Lost Crowns DLC. As if the regular traps, enemies, and bosses in the main game weren't enough mental abuse.
Crown of the Sunken King, out now for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, is the first installment of The Lost Crowns trilogy. It takes players to an entirely different world within the Dark Souls 2 universe, "where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern and death lays in wait around every corner."
Each chapter of The Lost Crowns is said to be specifically designed to "enhance, challenge, and bring players to their knees." I haven't played Dark Souls 2, so I don't know how true that statement is, but our resident Dark Souls expert, Andrew Clouther, is fist deep in the new DLC and should have a video walkthrough up later today.
Coinciding with the new DLC was a recent update to the game. The version number changes depending on your platform, but the patch notes are largely the same. The full patch notes can be viewed here.
