Dark Souls 2 launches today on PC

At 6:00pm Eastern Time, Dark Souls 2 will launch at select retailers and via digital download on Steam worldwide, despite having a confirmed release date of April 25. The PC version will be priced at $49.99 which is kind of crazy considering this is the best version of the game you can get: 60 frames per second, full 1080p resolution, and customizable keyboard controls, to name a few reasons why. Let's just say, it's quite an improvement over the PC version we received with the original Dark Souls.

“FromSoftware has taken the time and great care to deliver Dark Souls 2 for PC at the level that PC fans expect.” said Chris Gilbert, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. “We’re looking forward to fans enjoying the PC version’s upgraded graphical fidelity and its increased frame rates that is sure to deliver an extra visceral punch and open a new dimension to the great gameplay contained in Dark Souls 2.”

Dark Souls 2 was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 where it racked up some pretty impressive reviews. On Metacritic, both versions sit above a 90, with GameZone scoring it a 9/10. While we don't yet have a review of the PC version, we did get extensive hands-on time with it, concluding that it is "without a doubt the superior version."
