Dark Souls 2 revealed for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

Get ready to die some more. Tonight's 2012 Video Game Awards was filled with surprise announcements and premieres, but nothing was as intimidating as the announcement of Dark Souls 2, a sequel to From Software's 2011 action-RPG.

For those unaware, Dark Souls is the ultimate test of patience and willpower. Many consider it to be one of the hardest games created thanks to its hostile environments, difficult bosses, and unforgiving death penalty. To anyone who hasn't yet played it, I highly suggest you do — if only to experience the frustration.

For those looking to punish themselves some more, Dark Souls 2 will be available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Publisher Namco Bandai released a trailer tonight featuring a man in armor, a lady wearing a hooded cape, and a deadly dragon which I assume will be some sort of boss that will likely kick our ass.

We have learned that From Software will be the developer again with series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki overseeing production alongside director Tomohiro Shibuya, who worked on the Monster Hunter series.

No release date was announced.
