Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin trailer deprives us of all hope

Oh Dark Souls II, just when I think I’ve experienced everything you have to offer you release a brand new version of the game. How dare you? I’m just going to have to play all over again. I hope you’re proud of yourself. Sure, go ahead; give us another trailer revealing some of your many secrets. Secrets I’m about to highlight.

The first thing this trailer does is break down all the regions the Emerald Herald mentions by showing the location while her speech is occurring simultaneously. I’m a sucker for that stuff. Believe it or not, aspects of a Souls game can be ambiguous, and it’s good to be certain.

Now to gameplay stuff. The six player PvP looks downright hectic. At time stamp 2:05 you see the host, two helpful phantoms, and two invaders. Granted, I’m sure these situations will rarely occur, but, man, if and when it does, it was be glorious! Adding a battle royal arena in-game would be heaven. More players allowed in one world just means more potential for memorable PvP experiences.

The last thing I want you to take a gander at is time stamp 2:04. The player is clearly in Things Betwix near the area of the gender swapping coffin. But… well… instead of  two Ogres we see an Ogre and a Pursuer. This just sounds like nightmare fuel! Just another example of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin trampling everything you once knew and felt safe about.
