Dark Souls 3 targeting 60 FPS on PC

Dark Souls 3 is aiming to patch up the series’ relationship with PC gamers by delivering 60 silky frames per second on PC.

The news comes to us from the official Dark Souls Twitter, which today poured cold water on rumors of lukewarm PC performance:

This is good news for those who plan to do their dying on PC, but let’s not forget that it’s only natural to be apprehensive toward Dark Souls 3’s PC release. The original Dark Souls was unplayable on PC, partly due to shoddy porting and partly due to the labyrinth that is Games for Windows Live. It was so bad, in fact, that modders had to fix the game themselves.

Dark Souls 2 fared better, certainly, but that’s not saying much. It stumbled in its early days as well, and was plagued by inexplicable frame rate dips for several months. Thankfully, From Software’s PC team had Bloodborne’s entire development period to learn the ins and outs of PC architecture, so we shouldn’t see any more Blighttowns, if you know what I mean.

Dark Souls 3 will launch on PS4, PC and Xbox One April 12.
