Dark Souls, arguably one of the hardest titles on consoles to date, has hit the 1.5 million copies shipped mark. Namco Bandai revealed this information today in a press release on their website, along with detailed data on just where the title is most popular.
It is crucial to remember that the 1.5 million mark is only the number of copies shipped to retailers, not the number of copies purchased by consumers. Either way, it is still a very impressive number, especially for a franchise that has been flying under the radar recently. Even more surprising, Bandai stated that America has been the core audience for the game with 620,000 units shipped. That number is almost 200,000 more than the second highest country, Europe, 470,000 copies shipped.
The game has really been this year's most underrated title, receiving praise from countless publications. While we definitely recommend Dark Souls, we warn you to purcahse a couple backup controllers, because you will most likely throw a few into the wall due to the difficulty of the game.
