Darkness Rises surpasses 10 million downloads in less than 3 weeks

Mobile gaming has really blown up over the last decade into something that has paralleled the popularity of console gaming. Angry Birds, Pokemon Go, and many others have raked in millions, if not billions, of dollars in the space and many other titles continue to join their ranks including Nexon’s new title, Darkness Rises.

Given the accessibility for developers, mobile gaming is a very crowded space so when something does find success, it’s pretty astonishing. While there’s usually more of an investment for developers with console/PC games, there’s a more controlled market when compared to the somewhat oversaturated mobile space.

Nexon’s Darkness Rises has found a way to break the mold by surpassing an earthshattering 10 million downloads. The free-to-play RPG launched on June 20th on iOS and Android and has climbed its way up the charts rapidly thanks to its impressive graphics, engaging gameplay and much more.

“The success of Darkness Rises is a testament to the game’s high fidelity graphics and high-impact combat setting a new bar for console quality gaming experiences on mobile,” said Lawrence Koh, General Manager at Nexon M. “Darkness Rises gives players the option to enjoy what they like best in games, whether its embarking on the single player storyline, participating in PvP or teaming up with friends in Raids. We’re excited to continue to expand the gameplay experience to challenge players in new ways for years to come through new story quests, features and modes, characters, epic bosses, in-game events and much more.”

To celebrate the game’s astonishing growth, Nexon will be offering some limited time rewards for players! From now through August 8th, players will be given daily login bonuses such as massive gold and gem gifts, celebratory gear, and special chests. Each day from 7 PM to 9 PM during the event, players will also get a 10% gold boost and 20% EXP boost.

A new update has also added the ability to team up with other players in a raid that features a new boss, Gigantes, new gear, and more. You can take a look at a newly released CG trailer for Darkness Rises below.
