Darksiders III releases this November, Collector’s Edition & Pre-Order Bonuses revealed

THQ Nordic has unveiled the release date for the third entry in their action-adventure series Darksiders. On November 27th, Darksiders III will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The publisher also shared digital Pre-order bonuses and two special editions containing a slew of physical goodies. Darksiders III is upon us later this year but it didn’t always look so good for the franchise. After the bankruptcy of publisher THQ in 2012, the original development studio Vigil Games had to scrap plans to finish the trilogy. THQ owned Vigil Games but couldn’t find an interested buyer, so the studio closed its doors together with the once big game publisher in 2013.

Thankfully, most of the talent at Vigil landed on their feet and formed a new studio, Gunfire Games. And with THQ Nordic – confusingly enough never a part of THQ – buying the intellectual rights to Darksiders, it was a match made in heaven for THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games to work on the third entry in the Darksiders series. After leaking on Amazon early last year, THQ Nordic shortly after officially announced Darksiders III was being developed by Gunfire Games.

Fans of the first two Darksiders games let off a sigh of relief and were looking forward to the next entry in the apocalyptic hack-and-slash action-adventure franchise. As a horseman of the apocalypse, Darksiders lets you take control of a powerful mythical being and fight your way to save the world in a fight between Heaven and Hell.

After starring War and Death in the first two Darksiders, players will assume control of Fury, the third Horseman of the Apocalypse. As a series first, a female character is the protagonist but don’t expect any form of reservation, as was seen of the chain-whip wielding demon slayer in the announcement trailer.

Darksiders III is opened up for Pre-order on all three platforms and will cost you $59.99 for the Standard Edition and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition (currently discounted at $69.99). All Pre-order purchases will receive a bonus armor skin while the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive two gameplay DLCs post-launch.

For die-hard fans of Darksiders or gaming collectors in general, THQ Nordic also unveiled two special editions. Check out the moneyshot trailers for the Collector’s Edition and Apocalypse Edition below, to see all physical collectibles included in each.
