After the original developer of Darksiders went bankrupt and had its assets sold off in 2012, there has been quite a bit of silence around the future of Darksiders. In 2014, Nordic Games, the company that purchased the Darksiders series from THQ, announced that despite the silence around the Darksiders franchise, the series was "not dead." They even went on to say that there was a chance for Darksiders 3 to be developed.
Unfortunately, we have yet to see anything about Darksiders 3, however, we are getting the original Darksiders again!
Over the weekend, during Gamepolis 2016 in Malaga, Spain to announce that the original Darksiders would be getting a remaster for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Wii U, according to a report from Nextn. The Darksiders remaster will release digitally and physically sometime towards the end of the year. No official release date has been confirmed, but the studio is targeting a fourth quarter release.
With the Darksiders remaster joining the previously released Darksiders 2 remaster, we might see Darksiders 3 someday.
