A long time ago… in a galaxy far, far away the menacing Darth Maul character from Star Wars might actually have got his own movie – well, judging by the standards of this fan-film one shouldn't be too far away!
T7Pro, much like a lot of Star Wars fans, saw something much more in the face-painted, double-sabered, unpredictable Sith Lord, and believes he "should have had more screen time."
After all, he was the first apprentice of Darth Sidious and was simply killed off in the very film he was introduced to the audience.
Much like a stereotypical 'Bond Villain' Darth Maul didn't really care too much for talking, or communication at all for that matter. In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace we were given a small taster of how this mysterious character did business, he dealt mostly in action.
Considering how LucasFilm built Darth Vader in the original trilogy of Star Wars it might have come as a shock that Darth Maul was killed so easily, however the idea of a prequel based solely on the character seems to have caught on with fans of the franchise – with this video going viral.
It took T7Pro around two years to compile the video, just short of 18-minutes long, which includes some really tight camera shots, emphatic lightsaber duels performed in a way that imitates the style of Star Wars rather well, and a chance to see why Sidious picked Darth Maul to be his apprentice in the first place.
This new fan-made video gives fans a glimpse of what could have been, should we have been given a little more time to see Darth Maul's character develop.
