Co-op monster slaying RPG Dauntless gets open beta scheduled for May 2018

Gear up Monster Hu... err, SLAYERS!

For those craving a new co-op game to play with their PC buddies, we have something just for you. Next month, PC players will be able to get their hands-on Dauntless, a four-player fantasy game that takes players to exotic locations to battle monsters of epic proportions using magic and brute force!

Developer Phoenix Labs is made-up of countless industry veterans from studios like Capcom, Bioware, and Riot Games, the experienced team will be opening the doors to anyone interested in the game on May 24th, 2018 for free. For those that have some extra coin and wish to support the game during the open beta, they can drop it on some cosmetic items in the in-game store but there is no pay-to-win mechanics or any form of loot boxes, it’s purely for looking stylish while slaying beasts.

“Dauntless is more than four years in the making, and we can’t wait for everyone to join us in the Shattered Isles, team up with friends, take on Behemoths, craft epic gear and bring the world to life,” said Jesse Houston, CEO and co-founder of Phoenix Labs. “As we close in on our next phase of this adventure, we thank our passionate community that has been with us from day-one, providing feedback and helping craft the experience into what it is today. It has been an honor to create Dauntless together with you!”

Dauntless honestly looks like a combo of Monster Hunter and the 2015 game Evolve but with more flair and a better sense of how to appeal to the player (not locking characters and items behind paywalls), if you were bummed with how Evolve turned out or are sad that Monster Hunter isn’t on PC, it looks like Dauntless may fill that void in your heart!

Dauntless currently has no release date for the final version or plans for a console version but it is being considered. You can visit PlayDauntless.com to learn more about the game and the upcoming beta.
