David Ayer set to direct Harley Quinn movie titled Gotham City Sirens

Warner Bros. seems intent on doubling down with the status quo of the DC Extended Universe. Not only is Harley Quinn getting her own solo film, but it will be written and directed by Suicide Squad's David Ayer. The Hollywood Report exclusively reveals that the movie will be titled Gotham City Sirens, and will most likely feature other characters such as Catwoman and Poison Ivy with Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn.

The script will be penned by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the writer behind the Tomb Raider reboot and the upcoming third Sherlock Holmes film. The project is on fast track to be produced, so don’t be surprised if it usurps the spot of another, untested DC movie like Aquaman or Cyborg. The report also mentions that Warner Bros. is also interested in producing a solo Deadshot film, but that the project is in very early talks. No matter how you felt about Suicide Squad, it is undoubtedly awesome that there’ll be an all female super team movie penned by a woman. Shame there isn’t a female director, especially after Ayer’s take on Suicide Squad was heavily criticized. Regardless, this will be a movie we at GameZone will be covering in detail as it nears release!
