He's possibly the most popular Doctor since the BBC show returned back in 2005 and now David Tennant will return to his Time Lord duties in three new audio episodes.
The 44 year-old Scot will not be alone in his return to Doctor Who, the tenth Doctor will be accompanied by another fan favourite, his companion Catherine Tate, otherwise known as Donna Noble.
The star's return to the well-known Sci-Fi drama has been met with a chiefly positive response, with executive producer Jason Heigh-Ellery seemingly delighted to have Tennant back, working with the show.
He said: “I still remember the sense of joy I had when I heard that David had been asked to play the Doctor.
“We were all so pleased for him — as we knew how much Doctor Who meant to him."
These audio episodes will be released on The Big Finish website in May 2016, with the series named Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures.
"Now David comes full circle, back doing Doctor Who with Big Finish — except that this time he’s playing the Doctor! It’s the same but different — it’s wonderful to have him back!” he added.
Tennant left the Doctor Who series back in 2010 as he was replaced by, again, the largely successful Matt Smith. Many fans would welcome his return to the show (full-time), although that looks very unlikely to happen any time soon…
