Day 3: Wii U, 3DS online services still suffering from ‘technical difficulties’

We're now into day three of Nintendo's online service struggle and things don't appear to be getting any better. Since Christmas many online features for the Wii U and 3DS have been down, including the ability to create a Nintendo Network ID and purchasing/downloading games from the eShop.

As a result, Nintendo delayed the western launch of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter (originally today) and removed them from the Japanese eShop. The Pokémon Bank was identified as the major cause of the server issues and in a statement today, Nintendo explained that many of the problems were a result of "high traffic." Unfortunately, they offered little else in terms of explanation or when we can expect a fix.

Until then, Wii U and 3DS owners can continuously refresh the Online service status page, though not much appears to be different than previous days. "Some parts of the online services are experiencing technical difficulties," it says for all Nintendo platforms (Wii U, 3DS, Wii, and DS).

On Twitter, Nintendo of America posted the following apology.

Are you still experiencing error codes when attempting to access the Wii U or 3DS online services?
