DayZ sold 172,500 copies in its first day

PC game DayZ has sold 172,500 copies in its first 24 hours, revealed Mark Spanel, CEO of publisher Bohemia Interactive.

The open-world survival-horror game, originally a mod for tactical shooter ARMA 2, entered Early Access on Steam yesterday. It saw 142,403 players in its first day — and 88,000 tuned in during the first 12 hours.

The title is still in alpha, and Spanel admitted that 'many' bugs have popped up.

“Work ahead: hard,” he wrote.

Early Access costs $30.
