DayZ, the popular zombie survival mod for Arma 2, was just the beginning for creator Dean Hall, who will now lead a development team to create it as a standalone PC-exclusive title.
The official announcement comes just a day after the mod surpassed one million active users. Now, with the popularity at an all time high for the addicting mod, Bohemia Interactive will help develop a standalone version.
According to Hall, "Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game."
DayZ will follow a development model similar to that of Minecraft.
"Fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price," Hall explained.
The official DayZ game will have its own site, www.dayzgame.com, and the mod will continue at it's present link.
