DC heroes take to the MOBA scene in new game, Infinite Crisis

Warner Bros. can't get enough of the MOBA scene. The publisher of Guardians of Middle-earth, a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's universe, has partnered with DC Entertainment to bring gamers another themed MOBA. Given the growing popularity of the MOBA genre and use of DC Comics characters (see: Injustice: Gods Among Us), I'm anxious to see how this game plays out.

Infinite Crisis will be a free-to-play game, developed by Turbine (The Lord of the Rings Online), that features a "deep roster of DC Comics characters." Like most MOBAs, it will have a heavy emphasis on player vs. player. Gameplay will be placed in the DC Multiverse, "world in which familiar DC Comics characters have been reimagined in startling ways."

"Infinite Crisis puts players in control of twisted incarnations of their favorite characters throughout the Multiverse such as Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman, playing in league with well-known characters including Green Lantern and The Flash."

Infinite Crisis is scheduled for release on PC in 2013. Pricing has not yet been announced, but I assume it will follow closely to the Guardians of Middle-earth business model.
