Dead Island 2 delayed to 2016

Dead Island 2 was set to release in the Spring of this year. It is currently Spring and we have yet to hear very much about Dead Island 2 since rumors of its delay — until today. The first-person, zombie-survival/slaughtering game has been delayed until 2016.

The delay comes from the developers looking at player feedback from the original Dead Island and looking to implement the loved features: multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughterground. In addition to those features, the developers at Yager want to add "a ton more content and combat options."

In a Facebook post, the Dead Island team revealed that they hadn't quite finished what they started out to do and needed more time:

We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn’t reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet. This is why we have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016.

Right now we are focusing purely on development, and we will have more info to share at a later stage.

The community was understanding for the most part, telling the developers to to take their time and make the game even better. I think that's something we can all appreciate.

We can now officially add Dead Island 2 amongst the list of other delayed games: Quantum Break, Batman: Arkham Knight, Mortal Kombat X on PS3 and Xbox 360, Project CARS (multiple delays on that one), GTA 5 on PC (although it has released).
