Today, at TGS the Tokyo Game Show, we receive yet another trailer full of new info. Most importantly, Dead or Alive 6 now has a concrete release date with February 15 next year. But the new video is harboring much more than that.
For the first time, we also see three recurring female fighters who are making their gameplay debut for Dead or Alive 6. Femme fatale ninja Ayane, clumsy Honoka and goth fashionista Marie Rose. The later two made their debuts in the DoA franchise with the last game but quickly garnered special popularity among fans for reasons. Well, no need to sugar-coat, both were successful stereotypes usually found in Anime with a hefty dose of fan service.
It’s probably that underlying reason why some fans were anxious whether their preferred fighter would even make it in the cast of the new game. After all, game director Yohei Shimbori famously promised to tone down sexualization of the female fighters when unveiling Dead or Alive 6.
We recently learned that DoA 6 still aims to be right up the alley for those kinds of fans and with today’s unveiling of Marie Rose and Honoka even the last skeptic can feel reassured that Dead or Alive is not changing too much.
