Xbox has had a really good year for exclusives. We've gotten Quantum Break, Recore, Forza Horizon 3, and Gears of War 4. There's something for everybody in that line-up! They have just one game left for 2016 and it's a pretty big one. Dead Rising 4 releases next month and zombie fans are eager to get their hands on it for a variety of reasons. Fans are looking forward to creating pools of zombie blood, using whacky weapons, and stepping back into the shoes of fan-favorite character, Frank West. One feature that many fans enjoy will not be returning, though.
In Dead Rising 2, Capcom introduced co-op into the hectic zombie game. Fans immediately fell in love with the idea of being able to team up with their buddies to save lives, take on psychopaths, and just have fun! The feature was so popular it carried over into several spin-offs and sequels but it won't be returning in Dead Rising 4.
That's right, Dead Rising 4 is missing co-op. During a Twitch stream (around the 18 minute mark), one of the developers revealed that the game won't have a co-op campaign because they "want to focus on telling Frank's story". The game will, however, feature a 4 player multiplayer mode that acts similar to a challenge mode. While it's not exactly the same as the really fun co-op campaign, it's something!
This isn't the first feature from the series to be removed in Dead Rising 4. Capcom revealed earlier this year that the game won't have a time limit like previous games. One of the most interesting things about previous Dead Rising games was the 72-hour time limit. Players have 72 in-game hours to do whatever they want to do before the game ends. Depending on the amount of missions you do and what specific missions you choose, the game could end differently. It added a sense of urgency and tension, but all of that is gone in Dead Rising 4.
Capcom is certainly making some interesting choices with Dead Rising 4, whether those are good or bad remains to be seen. Dead Rising 4 releases on Xbox One and PC on December 6th, 2016.
