Capcom just made a lot of people's day so much better. The publisher has officially confirmed that remasters of the classic zombie hack 'em up Dead Rising franchise are in the works and will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One while PC players will finally be getting their hands on the original game. After a trophy list for the original Dead Rising popped up on Exophase, fans were beginning to speculate that something was up.
And they were right.
A spokesperson from Capcom confirmed the news to VideoGamer earlier today saying:
"Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4. We will have more news to share soon.”
The original Dead Rising launched all the way back in August of 2006 as an Xbox 360 exclusive, but the series went multiplatform with its sequel, Dead Rising 2 four years later. PC players might bemoan the fact that they will not be getting a remastered version, but at the same point upgrading your hardware will likely hit (if not surpass) the target fidelity that the PS4 and Xbox One versions plan to accomplish.
There is currently no timeframe as to when we can expect the new remasters/ports to release, but you can bet we will let you know as soon as it is revealed.
