Deadpool 2 has officially been announced

Today at CinemaCon, 20th Century Fox made the announcement most people were waiting for and it consisted with the Merc with a Mouth and his sequel.

Comicbook reports that the original cast and crew of Deadpool are set to make a return which includes director Tim Miller, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and of course the hero himself, Ryan Reynolds. We also got confirmation that Cable will be the sequels main antagonists, just like the end credits stated.

In its first weekend, Deadpool pulled an estimated $135 million. On its way to doing so, Deadpool had the biggest opening day ever for an R-rated film.

20th Century Fox's new comic book movie set record highs for both Presidents Day weekend and the month of February, topping Fifty Shades of Grey's previous record of $85.2 million in its debut.

Additionally, Deadpool's opening weekend is now the biggest ever for an R-rating film, outpacing The Matrix Reloaded's $91.8 million debuts. The film brought in an additional $125 million overseas, bringing its total global opening to a whopping $260 million.

There was no official release date on when the sequel is set to debut, but 20th Century Fox previously announced that they have reserved the rights to two dates: October 6, 2017, and January 12, 2018. If one of these were to be the slot for Deadpool 2, it wouldn’t be too far away.
