Deadpool 2’s director drops out over creative differences

One of 2016's biggest movies was Deadpool. It brought a relatively unknown character (at least in mainstream audiences) to the public in a massive way, it was a highly successful R-rated superhero movie, and it's just really good! Part of the reason for this was that Fox allowed the Ryan Reynolds and the main team behind the film to go all out as long as they stayed within their fairly small budget. They threw jabs at the studio, the convoluted X-Men film timeline, and much more. It was a refreshing take on the genre.

Director Tim Miller seemed to really enjoy working on the film, even during its troubled development. Earlier this year Fox announced the sequel and Miller was in the process of developing the script for the film. Although he hadn't officially been signed on to direct the raunchy superhero film, many assumed he would return.

Deadline reports that the director has dropped out of the project after creative differences between him and star Ryan Reynolds. While Miller has supposedly left, sources claim that he left on a high-note and Fox still plans to keep him around for other projects. It sounds as if Miller just decided maybe he should leave before things became bad between him, Reynolds, and Fox.

The film is set to feature iconic Deadpool characters such as Domino and Cable, both of which are still in the casting process but have some big names rumored to be in the running for them.

It's unclear as of right now if Deadpool 2 will suffer any kind of delay as the film is still a long ways out with a 2018 release date.

In related news, Fox recently dropped the trailer for another standalone movie for an X-Men character, Wolverine! The first footage for the third and final Wolverine film (titled simply Logan) staring Hugh Jackman was released on Thursday morning giving us a taste of the dark and grim tone of the film while also teasing some of that highly anticipated R-rated violence fans have been waiting nearly 20 years to see in a Wolverine film! The film is set to hit theaters on March 3rd, 2017.
