Any concern 20th Century Fox may have had about Deadpool's R-rating has hopefully eased on reports that the Ryan Reynolds' action film is already breaking records.
Though Deadpool officially opens today, the film killed it during its preview night on Thursday. The film grossed $12.7 million at 2,975 locations, setting a record for Thursday night preview openings for an R-rated film. It topped the previous record-holder, The Hangover Part II, which in 2011 earned $10.4 million. It also beat the $8.6 million made by last year's (love story?) Fifty Shades of Grey, which was the previous February preview champ.
In its first two days overseas, Deadpool has amassed $12 million in seven markets. Of course, it'll still be hard for the film to overcome not releasing in China, the world's second-largest movie market.
Then again, with Betty White endorsing you, the sky is the limit.
