Hideo Kojima has finally lifted the curtain on what the hell Death Stranding is and folks, it’s absolutely bananas. We’ve got a dying president, an America in need of rebuilding, creepy soldiers, dope futuristic motorcycles, and… a release date.
We’re still reeling from the whole thing but Sam Bridges (Norman Reedus) is on a journey across America to rebuild and save what’s left following the mysterious events of the “Death Stranding”. That said, there are many people who don’t want that to happen and will do whatever it takes to stop Bridges.
Some of these beings can’t be fought through fists and guns though… some can’t even be seen with the naked eye. Bridges uses the now iconic baby he carries around as a connection to the “other side”, the baby helps him see and feel those who are bogged down and buried by the Death Stranding.
One of those beings connected to the other side is the game’s main antagonist and the father of the child, Mads Mikkelsen’s Cliff. To say he looks to be a huge thorn in the side of Sam Bridges would be a massive understatement but he seems to not only be the creator of the child but perhaps even the Death Stranding itself. He looks to be incredibly formidable and the biggest threat on Bridges’ journey.
Death Stranding will finally release on November 8th, 2019 and will have a pretty huge collector’s edition for a whopping $199.99. With that collector’s edition, you’ll get a replica of the baby, in-game wearables such as a gold hat and sunglasses, a keychain of the Kojima Productions mascot, a steelbook, and more.
Finally, with this massive new trailer, Kojima has released a small letter to the fans.
“People have created “Walls” and become accustomed to living in isolation.
“Death Stranding” is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the “Strand” or connection. As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or “Strands” with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.”
The countdown to Death Stranding begins now! It’ll release exclusively for PlayStation 4 on November 8th, 2019.
