505 Games announces that the worlds of Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077 collide. Owners of Hideo Kojima’s eccentric action-adventure on PC can look forward to new cosmetics, gear, and even missions. All in the form of a free update for everybody. Check out the trailer for the crossover here!
The light doesn’t shine particularly bright on Cyberpunk 2077 these days. After a bug-ridden launch and catastrophic current-gen performance CD Projekt sure lost a lot of goodwill among gamers.
But that doesn’t mean there’s no reason for joy. On the contrary, Kojima Productions secretly worked on a crossover between Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077. Hence, why users on the PC are greeted with a pretty awesome free content update today.
This new update adds six new missions that feature characters straight from the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, as well. On top of that, the update for Death Stranding also adds several cosmetic items with some even giving players even an added bonus.
- Cyberpunk 2077 themed Reverse Trike vehicle with improved jumping power
- “Silver Hand” modelled after Johnny Silverhand’s robotic arm
- New holograms
- Several fashion items including Johnny Silverhand’s sunglasses
All this is already a pretty sweet amount of content to get for free. But the new Death Stranding update goes even further by adding an entirely new game mechanic. Hacking. You’ve heard it right. Sam Porter Bridges now has a brand-new attack vector to give him an edge on his journey to reconnect the USA.
Players are able to hack Mule sensors for a given time. Thus making infiltration a lot easier. Furthermore, you can stop trucks dead in their tracks by hacking them. But best of all, you can directly hack the Odradeks scanners on enemies and stun them. Truly an awesome new addition for Death Stranding that was pretty slim on the combat side.
As you can see, this free update offers plenty of great new content. It should even be enough reason to replay Death Stranding with the new mechanics.
