[CONFIRMED] Deathloop headed towards release May 2021 according to store listing

UPDATE

Bethesda confirmed the PS Store listing by revealing that Deathloop will indeed launch next year, on May 21st.

ORIGINAL STORY

Arkane Studios’ intriguing shooter Deathloop comes out on May 21st, 2021. The news of the game’s release date comes via the PlayStation Store listing for it. Interestingly enough, neither the developer nor the publisher confirmed it.

It looks like the launch of the PlayStation 5 has some unexpected side effects. Due to the new console now being out, pre-order websites for PS5 games also went live today. One particularly interesting revelation comes from the listing for Bethesda’s Deathloop.

Developed by Arkane Studios, masters of first-person action such as Dishonored and Prey, Deathloop follows the studio’s penchant for new ideas and mechanics. Namely, time loops.

Learn from each cycle – try new paths, gather intel, and find new weapons and abilities. Do whatever it takes to break the loop.

Arkane combined the inherent nature of game restarts into the narrative by putting the player in the shoes of a character that relives the same day. Over and over again. Each time you die, the day resets. But you learn valuable lessons on how to defeat enemies, take out bosses, and most importantly, manage to do it before the day ends.

The developer detailed the exciting design previously which you should totally check out. But sadly, Deathloop did not manage to make it in time for the PS5 launch. It was originally planned as a launch title but was delayed to the next year.

Today, we learn the new release date at least. May 21st is Deathloop‘s apparent new release date for the PS5 and PC. The game is only a timed-exclusive on the PlayStation, meaning that an Xbox port will follow.

Things got even more interesting, however, since Microsoft bought Arkane‘s parent company Bethesda and ZeniMax Media recently. Phil Spencer already confirmed to honor Deathloop‘s exclusivity deal. Although, it could very well become the last Bethesda title to appear on a Sony console.
