Deathtrap now on Steam Early Access

Deathtrap from NeocoreGames is now on Steam Early Access for $19.99. It is a tower-defense game with strong action-RPG elements described as "a game of vicious tricks, killing machines, rotating blades and splattering blood."

Players guard a chain of strongholds that were once built to keep the horrors of the void at bay — to keep monsters in the depths and prevent them from breaking through to the everyday world. You choose a hero and defend the forts, rebuilding them and improving their ancient traps and magical machines.

The game has a cooperative campaign where you can play with other heroes. If you don't want co-op, players can also go against each other, where one player is the defender (prepares traps and tactics) and the other is the attacker (with the ability to possess and control directly any creature in his/her army, employing skills to weaken the opponent or boost invaders. Additionally, there is a map and monster editor for user-generated content, and you can even share everything you create with other players.

The three classes are Mercenary, Marksman and Sorceress. Character development consists of 100 levels and 50 skills per class. There's loot, artifact crafting, leaderboards and a ranking system, 25 deadly trap and more than 150 trap upgrades.

Estimated release date for Deathtrap is Q1 2015 on PC. There are Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions coming later.
