Decision for no co-op in Far Cry Primal made early in development

Ubisoft community manager Jason Paradise has opened up on the developer's decision to not include multiplayer in Far Cry Primal, insisting it was a "difficult choice" made in the "early stages" of development.

Although Far Cry 4 had limited co-op, the decision to not include it in Primal was in the best interest of the fans, according to Ubisoft.

"We are focusing entirely on creating the best possible Far Cry experience for our fans," Paradise said. "Bringing the Stone Age to life and providing players with a strong gameplay experience based off of the Far Cry legacy meant we had to reinvent our core gameplay loop."

"This was definitely not a small undertaking," he added. "Our focus was on delivering this fantasy which required clear priorities for the team. Therefore, in the early stages of the project, we made the difficult choice of focusing our efforts on the single player experience."

It seems fans have mixed reaction to no co-op in Far Cry Primal. For what it's worth, we went hands-on with the game in early December and came away impressed.
