Prepare to defeat alien invaders with Phoenix Point launch trailer

Tomorrow, Julian Gollop’s spiritual successor to the X-COM series is coming out on PC and to set up the stage for one of the most highly-anticipated tactical-strategy game releases of the year, developer Snapshot Games has unveiled the launch trailer. Check it out here!

25 years after Julian Gollop swept the PC gaming world with the excellent X-COM: UFO Defense, the legendary game designer is returning to his roots with an eerily similar title. Phoenix Point is the next chapter in the original game in anything but name. With the X-COM IP owned by 2K Games, Gollop started his own indie studio and created a new IP but the similarities are uncanny. Not only is the setting of an alien invasion here but the gameplay is also a turn-based tactical affair. What’s more interesting is that Phoenix Point seemingly has also taken influence by Firaxis’ X-COM reboots. With the niche genre experiencing somewhat of a resurgence in recent years, we’re not complaining, however. The more the merrier.

Take on a brutal alien menace in Phoenix Point, the new strategy game from the creator of X-COM. Manage your troops on the battlefield and your bases on a global scale. Work with or against rival factions to uncover the secrets of the alien invasion. Explore, secure resources, research new technologies, and fight. It’s time to rise from the ashes.

Phoenix Point is launching tomorrow, December 3rd, exclusively on PC via the Epic Games Store with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users getting their chance at it in early 2020.
