Delayed NBA Live 17 is basically now NBA Live 18, will release this fall

NBA Live has been a very troubled franchise for a number of years. But thankfully, EA's pockets are deep, and that's a big reason why they are committed to the rebuild project that is NBA Live. NBA 2K isn't just leading the market for professional basketball games, it's dominating it, and there doesn't appear to be any stopping that anytime soon.

As we know already, NBA Live 17 was delayed into the early portions of 2017, but given that 2017 has arrived, the NBA season being beyond halfway over, and no word on a release date, Electronic Arts has apparently delayed the game again, pushing it back to Fall 2017. This essentially turns NBA Live 17 into NBA Live 18.

EA's CEO Andrew Wilson talked about the NBA Live franchise during their Q3 2017 earnings conference call, calling its development "a journey." He said that the company was looking to "double down" on the game while adding to it to release it in full just before the start of the 2017-2018 NBA Season.

It's been a long road for the once abandoned NBA Live brand, but eventually, you'd think after all this time, its fortunes are bound to change at some point. After all, the Golden State Warriors are the prime example of a team long stuck between mediocrity and just plain old sucking that eventually found their way, so hopefully NBA Live can take after them.
