The last time Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington starred side-by-side in a movie was in 2001's Training Day. In it, Hawke played a Los Angeles narcotics officer who on his first day on the job, goes on a 24-hour training run with Washington's character. It's a phenomenal movie directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by David Ayer.
Now, Fuqua is directing MGM's Magnificent Seven remake, and he's re-teaming with Hawke and Washington. Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington will be joining Chris Pratt and Haley Bennett, who are already on board to star in the film. The script was written by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, but the most recent draft has been reworked by John Lee Hancock.
The 1960 original starred Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen, and it was about seven gunslingers who protect a Mexican village from a group of outlaws. There's no release date yet, but the cast has enough talent to get excited about this early on.
