Destiny 1 is dropping Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris in August

Get your kicks in now before they re-emerge in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 is just a couple of months away, and while Bungie has confirmed that they won't be "turning the lights off on Destiny 1," that does appear to come with a few caveats. In a new post on the Bungie Blog, it was revealed that the multiplayer events of Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris would be leaving Destiny 1 in August before making their return in Destiny 2.

Both Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris are timed multiplayer events that launch intermittently to reward players with new gear and both factor in your gear and light levels when considering damage dealt and received. The events are generally for more hardcore players, so I suppose you could assume that Bungie believes that most hardcore players will be immediately moving over to Destiny 2 on launch anyway.

Here's a breakdown of the final dates for each event courtesy of the Bungie Blog:

  • August 1, 2017: Final Destiny 1-era Iron Banner

  • August 11, 2017: Final Destiny 1-era Trials of Osiris

In other Destiny news, the beta dates for the game have been announced, with PS4 players being able to start as early as July 18th assuming they pre-order the game, and July 19th for Xbox One players. Players on PC will have to wait until August.

Destiny 2 releases on Xbox One and PS4 on September 8th and on PC on October 24th.
