Destiny 2’s DLC might be just as important as the main game according to Activision

Could we see multiple DLCs similar to The Taken King?

Destiny had a lot of content for players to dive into after it released. The vanilla game was a bit… lackluster but Bungie made up for it with extensive amounts of DLC that added new story content, raids, and more. It wasn't ideal but at least Destiny fans had more content to enjoy for several years.

With Destiny 2 fast approaching, it sounds like Bungie and Activision are taking a similar stance. While the main game seems to have a decent amount of content right now, Activision ended their recent earnings call by saying that the DLC could potentially be just as vital to the Destiny experience as the core game.

"Finally, and maybe most importantly with a game like this, Destiny is so engaging that the follow-on content is almost as important if not as important as the main game," said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg

For the sequel, Bungie teamed up with some of Activision's support studios known for doing DLC work and ports like the Xbox 360/PS3 versions of the current-gen Call of Duty games and the PS4 remaster of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy. Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studio will be helping Bungie churn out DLC at a faster rate so they can keep fans satisfied.

Hirshberg also noted that the publisher has a "tremendous amount of confidence" in Destiny 2 and they've noticed that an "overwhelmingly high percentage" of pre-orders have been for the game's premium versions which come with bonus goodies and the game's expansion pass.

"We received almost universally positive feedback from both the press and the fans alike," Hirshberg said, adding that the game's development cycle is "continuing to close strong."
