Destiny adds $29.99 microtransaction for boost to level 25

A new listing for Destiny today has revealed that Activision and Bungie have released a $29.99 micro transaction which will allow you to boost any of your characters straight to level 25.

If this sounds familiar, it should. These packs were originally handed out for free to players of Destiny year one in order to upgrade right to The Taken King. It helped players jump right into the year two content for those who hadn't played or just hadn't leveled up their additional characters yet. As you can tell from the image below, compliments of VG247, the packs will cost $29.99/€39.99 and include a level upgrade to 25 as well as a sub-class boost and some other weapon modifications.

For now, the listing only appears on the PlayStation store and not yet listed on the Xbox Marketplace. However, let's be honest here for a moment, shall we? $29.99 for an upgrade to level 25? That's it? You can get brand new games on sale for 2/3rd's of the price like Battlefront for example. That price seems way too high and it should at least include some sort of max level upgrade like WoW (which, comparitively, costs $60).

It's worth noting that no official announcement has been made, and the microtransaction does not yet show up on the North American PlayStation Store. Anyway, this just seems par for the course with Destiny and we'll be sure to update you with any official announcement from Bungie or Activision.
