The beta for Bungie's upcoming MMO shooter Destiny has begun. Starting right now, PS4 and PS3 users can activate their keys and begin downloading the highly anticipated beta. That is, if you can get on to the web page. Right now it's experiencing heavy traffic (as expected) and crashing every time I try to access it.
Bungie still hasn't spoiled any of the details about the beta, but here's what we know: it'll include competitive gameplay; you'll be able to experience the story; there'll be cooperative activities; and you'll get a taste of "what it's like to be a citizen of The Tower overlooking the last safe city on Earth and investing in things that'll make your Guardian more powerful."
According to a leaked memo allegedly sent to GameStop managers has revealed it could include four story chapters, four competitive multiplayer maps, a cooperative Strike, and a "huge" world to explore. But now that the beta is live, you can see for yourself.
Although Destiny's beta is now open on PlayStation platforms, it won't open up to Xbox gamers until July 23. The beta is scheduled to end for all platforms on July 27, presumably marking the last time you'll be able to play the game until its official launch on September 9 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
