Destiny gets new update ahead of The Dark Below release

Destiny has received a minor update today that prepares the game for the release of Expansion I: The Dark Below.

Bungie says that The Dark Below will be come available for download for players tomorrow, December 9th, at 1:00am Pacific time. But before it arrives, this update will support the delivery of this new content. Here are the brief, but important patch notes for update 1.1.0.1.

The Dark Below
  • General bug fixes to content features in The Dark Below
Activities
  • Increased challenge levels for the following:
    • Daily Heroic Story
    • Weekly Heroic Strike
    • Weekly Nightfall Strike

Bungie notes, "Players who need to level up to successfully complete featured missions at new difficulty levels will find what they need to upgrade their characters in the Tower. As part of Expansion I, vendors will be equipped with more powerful weapons and gear. These items will be available for acquisition by all players."

So let me get this straight, all those weeks spent farming materials to upgrade items to get to level 30 can just be gathered from vendors when the update drops tomorrow?
