Bungie has shared some stats from last week's Trials of Osiris, revealing that only 133,444 Guardians successfully made it to the Lighthouse at least once.
Trials of Osiris, Destiny's endgame for those who prefer the Crucible over PvE raids, returned last week with some new matchmaking systems aimed at making it more difficult to reach the promised land. For those unfamiliar, the Lighthouse is Trials of Osris' ultimate reward destination for accumulating nine wins and zero losses on a single Trials Passage. Reaching this is the pinnacle of greatness in PvP, and guarantees you exclusive powerful exclusive loot found no where else.
So did the matchmaking changes work?
According to the first weekend stats, yes. As Bungie noted, "With the steeper incline provided by new matchmaking, the winner’s circle population is down from 188,442 in May."
Just 16.25 percent of the 820,986 Guardians who participated in the return of Trials of Osiris successfully reached the Lighthouse. Of course, that number could've been even higher if not for unfortunate events experienced, like this one.
Still, it's higher than I expected, and Bungie says they'll continue to monitor the matches and analyze the stats for December's update, which looks to refine various weapons and classes.
