Destiny House of Wolves: Bungie talks player trading

Creative Director sheds light on Bungie's stance on trading

Although today's Destiny livestream was focused mainly on content coming in the upcoming expansion, House of Wolves, one of the questions asked involved a feature many players would love to see implemented: player trading.

Asked for Bungie's official stance on player trading in Destiny, creative director Christopher Barrett said it's something often discussed at the studio.

"It's something we've thought about and something we've talked about the pros and cons about ever since the beginning of time," he said. "There's downsides and upsides. The designers are always considering features like that."

While he couldn't give an overall stance that the studio takes — because there are so many differing opinions — he did share that it's not something he would like to see in the game.

"Personally, I prefer not to have player trading," he said, agreeing with community member Gothalion that such a feature would take away a lot of the end game. The argument against the feature is that it would become too easy to acquire the gear or materials you need/want, and would devalue the end game content of Destiny. Trading for something is less exciting than earning it, according to community manager DeeJ.

"But you'll get different opinions across the entire team," Barrett conceded.
