Destiny: Rise of Iron officially detailed and revealed; To release this September

Bungie has officially revealed the next expansion for Destiny, Rise of Iron. The reveal came during a livestream today that confirmed a number of features for the expansion, most of which had been rumored or leaked earlier this week.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will bring a new cinematic story campaign set within The Plaguelands, a brand new location on Earth along with new weapons, armor, gear along and a six-player cooperative raid. In addition to that, new three-player Strike and updated Strikes will be featured in the expansion, and a the maximum possible Light level will see an increase.

Details on the increase, raid and Strike have not been revealed, but we do know that the story will take place on Old Russia, in a new zone called The Plaguelands with Lord Saladin taking up a new post.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will release September 20th, 2016 and will require the base Destiny game and The Taken King.

Pre-ordering the expansion will get you the new Iron Gjallahorn, as pictured below.
