Destiny’s April Update detailed; New Prison of Elders, Strike, increased Light cap and more

Bungie has quite a bit planned.

If you are a Destiny player that missed out on Bungie's livestream today, you missed out on more than just gameplay. Today's livestream focused on the "New Things to Do" when the April update goes live.

According to Bungie, Destiny's Light cap will increase from 320 to 335 which will ultimately up the amount of damage your Guardian spews. Because you character will be able to do more damage, an updated Prison of Elders will be added to the game.

The highlight of the update is the new Prison of Elders and it will tie directly into the "Return of the Prison" questline, taking place where Variks has been keeping Taken. This new Prison of Elders mode will be available to those at Level 41 and will feature "four months of varying challenges that won't repeat," said Bungie community manager David Dagu (via Polygon). Additionally, Variks Prison of Elder Bounties will reward you with House of Judgement reputation.

The April update will include one new Strike and one updated Strike. The new Strike is 'Blighted Chalice' and will feature a boss named Malok. The updated Strike is the Winter's Run Strike, which has been infested by Taken, will feature a Taken Archon priest and will be available to higher-level players.

On top of all of that, the Reed will be updated with an Eververse Trading Company outpost and Petra will have a set of quests exclusive to the PS3 and PS4.

The April update comes to all players on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on April 12, 2016
