Destiny’s hidden PvP mode, Trials of Osiris, discovered and detailed

Digging through Destiny’s source code has revealed a new competitive Crucible PvP playlist known as “Trials of Osiris.” Though Bungie hasn’t talked much of the secret playlist, Nowgamer has offered the first bit of details.

Trials of Osiris is a 3v3 Skirmish mode set on Mercury, a planet that has yet to be explored in Destiny’s story so far. Judging by the in-game description, it appears to be a more restrictive playlist, requiring you to earn your way into the playlist and continue winning to stay there.

"Trials of Osiris (Skirmish): 3v3. You have caught the eye of Osiris. Venture to Mercury and prove yourself as one of the Crucible’s elite. Only the worthy may face the Trials of Osiris, for only the worthy are strong enough to endure what is to come. A string of victories will earn great rewards – but lose three times and you’re out," the description reads.

PvPers looking to earn access to the Trials of Osiris will need to get a Tournament Ticketer, which has a chance of dropping during any Crucible match. According to the website, however, you need to not only play, but also win in these different Crucible modes, increasing your Activity Reward Bonus. The Activity Reward Bonuses are tied specifically to each game mode, meaning winning in Control will increase your Activity Reward Bonus for Control matches. Therefore, it’s recommended that you stick to a single PvP mode to improve yoru chances of getting the Tournament Ticket to drop.

Once you get the ticket, you’ll be able to enter the Trials of Osiris (once it releases, of course). However, if you want to stay there you’re going to have to continue to prove your worthiness. Losing three matches and you’re kicked out, forced to wait until you can access it again.

I’m assuming that a mode with such barriers to entrance result in some high level rewards. Of course, first we need Bungie to confirm this rumor and announce an actual date.
