Destiny’s Iron Banner release ‘was old version,’ says Bungie

Not a planned release, developer confirms

Responding to fans concern about the lack of changes in Destiny's the Iron Banner, which accidentally went live this morning, Bungie has assured that it was an "old version" of the event.

"Iron Banner went live this morning for an hour. It was not planned," Bungie said in a tweet. "It was the old version. We'll talk more about the official return soon."

The Iron Banner was prematurely set live earlier today while many of us at the GameZone offices were sleeping. So while we weren't awake to check out the event, Eurogamer noted that not much was actually changed, perhaps the first indication that the event was not supposed to be live.

Last week, Bungie had posted a fairly lengthy outline of the planned changes for the next Iron Banner. Among the changes are a "more dramatic difference between variation in Level," a Medallion system that'll hopefully address player quitting, better armor rewards, and quite a bit more which you can read about here.
