Destiny’s Iron Banner returns tomorrow with new gear

Bungie has reaffirmed the return of the Iron Banner event in Destiny tomorrow, announcing it will start at 1:00am PST (4:00am EST), Tuesday, January 13th.

The confirmation comes via patch notes from today's update in which major changes and fixes were made to Crota's End, the newest raid introduced in The Dark Below expansion. In today's patch notes, Bungie also made note of the new gear that will be offered through the Iron Banner, either as drops or through the event standing reputation. We didn't get any specific items, but we did get some vague categories.

  • Playlist weapon drops
    • Level 32 Sniper Rifle
    • Level 32 Auto Rifle
  • Gain event standing to earn Legendary gear
    • Level 32 Hand Cannon
    • Level 32 Rocket Launcher
    • Level 32 Gauntlets
    • Level 31 Chest

The last Iron Banner event took place last month after the release of The Dark Below DLC. It brought all-new gear that, when purchased and upgraded, helped Guardians reach level 31. Aside from that though, not much was changed. Only Guardians level 20 or higher could lead a Fireteam into the Iron Banner, Medallions of Iron returned, and the reputation rankings were reset. I assume all of that will return with next week's iteration.

The Iron Banner event will remain available through January 19th.
