Destiny’s older raids won’t drop new exotics from House of Wolves

Over the past week, IGN has been wrestling with itself over the improvements/changes being made to Destiny's old raids with the upcoming House of Wolves expansion. Among their list of concerns needing to be addressed was whether the difficulty of older raids would be increased to make up for the new level difference, and if the older raids will drop new House of Wolves exotics.

After days of back-and-forth reporting, the site has finally confirmed, via an official response from Activision, that new exotic items will not be dropping in older raids, like Vault of Glass and Crota's End.

The official statement from Activision clarifying the issue reads:

"I wanted to clarify the previously made comment about Exotic items and raids. With the launch of House of Wolves, VoG and Crota’s End will begin to drop old exotics at the new power levels from House of Wolves.  VoG and CE will not be dropping any of the new exotics. Their loot tables haven’t changed just the power level of the items they can drop."

It seems to obtain new items from House of Wolves, you'll need to complete the new raids and activities that come with it. That being said, you're older gear is still useful now that you'll be able to Ascend it to the new max Light Level cap.

Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves will be available on Tuesday, May 19th. It is the second of two planned expansions for Destiny, and is included as part of the Destiny Expansion Pass which is priced at $34.99. Alternatively, the expansion can be purchased individually for $19.99. Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, released in December of last year.

Last week, during an call to investors, Activision revealed that Destiny's universe will be getting its "biggest addition" in the form of an update coming this fall. While we don't know exactly what this big addition will be, it was recently discovered that Bungie had trademarked the name "The Taken King."
