The eagerly awaited Weekly Reset for Destiny's featured activities has been updated, and as some of you probably predicted, one of the activities requires that you own the just-released expansion, House of Wolves.
The Weekly Nightfall Strike features a mission from the House of Wolves expansion — Ocean of Storms, Moon. The level 32 Strike requires that you and a Fireteam of two others "Board the Fallen Ketch above the Moon and defeat the notorious Taniks, the Scarred." The modifiers include: Epic, Nightfall, Arc Burn, Juggler, and Brawler.
While those of you who have not yet purchased the House of Wolves expansion might be disappointed in this week's Nightfall Strike, it shouldn't come as a surprise. A similar thing happened last December with the release of Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below. Upon the release of the game's first expansion, players were shocked to find that they would not be offered an alternative Nightfall and Heroic Strike should they not own the required content for the week. With the release of House of Wolves, it should have been expected that at least one featured activity would require the new content.
Of course, just because it was expected doesn't mean we should be happy about it. I still don't think it's right that a portion of the game included at launch — one that's a core pillar of Destiny's design — be locked to you just because you refuse to purchase add-on content.
It may be an unpopular decision, but it's one that Bungie has already taken a stand on.
