Destiny servers down with error code “Newt”

***Update***

Bungie believes to have found a fix for the "Newt" errors and is working on a fix now.

***Original***

Developer Bungie has acknowledged connection issues with Destiny which are resulting in many of the game's Guardians receiving error code "Newt."

Bungie has already confirmed they are "aware of" the issues and are "currently investigating" the problems, but unfortunately that's all they've said.

A quick search on Bungie's support website reveals the following suggestion when you receive the "Newt" error code:

Please retry that activity again and resume what you were doing before the error occurred. If you encounter this error again, please exit Destiny then relaunch. If you continue to see this error, it’s likely due to testing we are doing on our end, please pardon our dust!

Seeing as how this appears to have caught Bungie by surprise, I'm assuming it's not testing and instead a glitch in the system. Bungie warns that until the problem is resolved, Destiny and other game-related services "may experience disruptions."

We'll continue to monitor the situation and update you when we hear more.
