Destiny: The Taken King will have the biggest raid we’ve seen yet

Bungie talks a big game with Destiny: The Taken King

With House of Wolves, Bungie opted to not include a raid as the DLC instead introduced the Prison of Elders. But with a hefty $40 price tag, you can bet Destiny's next expansion will have much more content. That includes "the biggest raid we've ever created," Bungie said in an IGN interview detailing The Taken King's content.

“The new destination in The Taken King is the Dreadnaught. This is the hive ship. It is Oryx the Taken King’s capital ship. You can patrol it, it’s home to its own story missions, its own strikes," Bungie community lead David 'DeeJ' Dague said. Bungie actually previewed the Dreadnaught last week, which you can check out here.

"It's home King's Fall, which is the biggest raid we've ever created," he said, adding, "It's got its own bounties, it's got new activities."

One of those new activities include a mode called Court of Oryx, which IGN says sounds similar to House of Wolves' Prison of Elders. "It’s got things like the Court of Oryx, which is a player-instigated public event that pits you against different combinations of different bosses in different scenarios," he explained.

The goal, according to Dague, seems to be Bungie "putting a lot more control in the hands of the players to where your Destiny adventure unfolds, and the Dreadnaught is great evidence of a lot of the new things that the team is doing to change the way you play the game, and to change the way it rewards you."

Destiny: The Taken King is set to release on September 15th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
