Guess what? It's Friday tomorrow! For you veteran Guardians out there, you already know what that means. But for you Taken Tots, Fridays mean more than the weekend in Destiny — it means the arrival of Xur, Agent of the Nine, the mysterious weekend vendor who shows up in the Tower with an assortment of random Exotic goods.
Guardians have a love-hate relationship with Xur, who makes a living off trolling Destiny's players; but, in Year Two, as Bungie explains, "that snake-faced bastard will behave differently now."
For starters, Xur's offerings have been changed so that he will select either a specific Exotic Weapon or an Exotic Engram for sale every week. "This change is due primarily to our desire to give players more direct paths to acquiring the Exotics they want through Quests and gameplay experiences, and to avoid repetition in his inventory," Bungie senior design lead Tyson Green explained.
As we learned earlier, Xur will also carry a new consumable, the Three of Coins, which boosts your chances of having Exotic Engrams, including Weapon Engrams, drop when you defeat bosses. These consumables have a cumulative luck effect, so if one doesn't net you a drop, the next one has a higher chance to do so.
And lastly, Xur will also bring a Legacy Engram every week, giving players a chance to purchase Year One Exotics (at Year One Attack and Defense levels) for those who want to finish up a Collection. According to Green, this will "strongly bias" towards Exotics not already in your Blueprint Collection, to help fill the blank slots – excluding Mythoclast and Necrochasm, which for some reason are still only available from their Year One sources.
As always, we'll be up nice and early to give you a rundown on the latest in Xur's inventory.
